Breastfeeding Cafés

Breastfeeding is heart warming and magical, but it can also feel lonely and isolating. It involves giving so much love, touch, and care, while often feeling untouched or not fully understood yourself.

Our cafés were started to give breastfeeding mothers a chance to meet others who truly understand, and to feel supported in a safe and welcoming environment.

The first café took place in 2023 with just 4 mums meeting in a local café. Two years later, we now regularly welcome over 20 attendees, with our summer picnic drawing 37 mums and babies together.

Whether you’re breastfeeding a newborn or an older baby, you’re very welcome. Our cafés are designed for mothers with babies up to 18 months old.

Each week, we explore a different topic related to feeding, parenting, or infant care, with plenty of opportunity to ask questions, share your experiences, and gain reassurance from others on a similar journey.

Come along, bring your baby, and enjoy some friendly company over a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake. We look forward to seeing you there!

The café is run by our trained Certified Lactation Counsellor (CLC) and experienced peer supporters, who are always available during sessions to offer support, answer questions, and provide evidence-based advice in a calm and friendly setting.

All conversations are held in full confidence, so you can feel comfortable and respected at all times.

To help keep our café space welcoming, safe, and supportive for everyone, we have a few simple group guidelines in place.

These help things run smoothly and ensure all mums and babies feel comfortable during their time with us.

Events

Throughout the year, we host larger community events to celebrate key awareness days and annual milestones, bringing families together for fun, connection, and support.
